What Acupuncture Can Treat

If you ask an Acupuncturist what Traditional Chinese Medicine can treat, they will most likely say "Anything!".  TCM is different from Western medicine because of its holistic perspective. We don't just treat the specific symptoms, we treat the entire body and take a look at the root cause of illness. All of those random health problems you experience? In TCM diagnostics, they are most likely all related and share a similar cause. Even if you aren't experiencing a particular health problem, Acupuncture can strengthen the body, boost your energy and digestion, calm your mind, and detox your system to prevent future illness. According to the World Health Organization, Acupuncture and TCM has been scientifically proven to help the conditions displayed below. However, TCM is by no means restricted to this list alone; new studies are being conducted and added to the list every year!

ACUPUNCTURE HAS BEEN PROVEN TO HELP:

headache
dental pain
tempromandibular (TMJ) dysfunction
rheumatoid arthritis

nausea and vomiting

postoperative pain

acute and chronic gastritis.
Although these are simply the conditions a scientific health organization has deemed can be effectively treated and cured with Acupuncture, there are a multitude of other conditions it states where Acupuncture may have effectiveness but more empirical proof is needed.

Personally, I have also witnessed Acupuncture and TCM to be effective for diarrhea/constipation, weight loss, addiction treatment, regulation of the menstrual cycle, gall stones, acne, eczema, and other skin conditions, paralysis and numbness, tinnitus, fertility, the common cold, and so much more!

Everyday Acupuncturists are approached to help unique conditions, and relief of symptoms is undoubtedly possible. Contact your local Acupuncturist to see if he or she has had success in treating whichever condition you are curious about. If you are in the Vancouver area, contact the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Student Clinic to book a free consultation! Or contact me directly for more questions.
